Cristian left his job to follow his artistic instinct but finds himself over thirty and unable to visualise what his future will hold. His sleep is constantly interrupted by a dark presence.

Day by day, he tries to sell his artwork to disinterested clients and chooses cheap wine over tinned food with the last of his money. Night by night, he goes to the same bars, drinks the same drinks and have the same discussions with his friends.

Just when each day could not be more like the last, Greta enters his life. Will love alone be enough for Cristian and his artistic yearnings? Or will the dark presence continue to cast a shadow over his slumber and keep him from contentment? Tormented by his own frustrations, he beings to question everything and everyone in his life.

L'estraneo (The Outsider) is an atmospheric, romantic and contemplative film, which turns its gaze where the doubt of the proposal of an aligned life is no longer the goal sought after by the last generations.
